Fear and Faith!

by Christine Lamwaka

Wao!!, I was asked to share more about my involvement in the ecumenical group that is the Multi-Denomination Christian Fellowship (MDCF). This group started in November 2008 and it is for all the African Christians, anyone who is willing to join, though dominated and started by young Sudanese who have been touched by God to bring all the youth and the elders together at least once in a month to fellowship together as one big family.

Therefore, this group is for all the denominations and I always attend the fellowship as I am also involved in the band and with some of our African choir members who represent St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish in that group. This is good because it helps me grow spiritually strong and keeps me busy in doing God's work.

I would love to see Fr. Peter one day to attend it and represent our Church leader as well to share with us the word of God during the fellowship.

Not only that, over the last few weeks I had Parish WYD intern's meeting with Fr. Peter and we had a good conversation and the discussion was about fear and faith, whereby I learnt a lot from his sharing and the most important thing I picked out was replacing Fear with Faith.

This is because when we have faith in God, there will be no fear because we have the faith in us that we are not alone but we are walking with Jesus besides us. The sharing was about the story of the disciples who were sent to preach the word of God to the people outside their town homes whereby they did not know anybody from there. Therefore, through their faith in God and believing that Jesus is walking beside them, they had strength to continue with their journey.

Therefore, from this lesson, I learnt that in my daily lives, I need to have the faith in Christ in whatever we do and walk alongside with Jesus in all my plans and actions. And I thank God I get the chance of listening to such sharing, and people are there to help me out doing God's work through this ministry. And this is because God has a plan for each and every one of us and in different plans as well. Therefore, this might be his plan for me and I thank him for that.
