ABOUT THE WYD11 INTERNS

Christine LamwakaCHRISTINE LAMWAKA:

My name is Christine Lamwaka aged 21 years old and my interests and hobbies include; creating new friends, interacting with youth, singing, playing with children, love dancing, among others. Therefore, I am someone who is social and outgoing easily with different categories of people and fit in any community easily due to flexibility I have got.

I applied for the Parish WYD internship program because I wanted to be part of the WYD2011 and the intern program will make me more engaged in many activities and gain a lot of information about the WYD and all the updates. This is because I was so touched with all the activities of WYD08 when I attended it, though not fully involved. Therefore, for the upcoming WYD2011, I want to involve myself and participate fully, that is why I applied for the program.

WYD means a lot to me in a way that I learnt more during the WYD08 about the Catholic faith, and the most important thing is the interaction with different youth all over the world and indeed making us one family, it was a great experience which I would love to see it happen among youth.

Being part of St. Patrick’s parish community of Blacktown has a great impact to me especially as a young person despite the fact that it is a great challenge. However, I get to learn more from the community and it keeps me active in the church by participating in most activities, and make me learn more leadership skills and how to overcome challenges. Therefore, this gives me a sense of belonging.

The Journey...

by Christine Lamwaka

I don't know where to start from but mmmmhhhh!!!!!!!!! am sure I know where it's going to end... Yeah, God has a plan for each and every one of us no matter the circumstance.

Firstly, I would like to thank him for his wonderful love and deeds on us especially on me and for his guidance and protection to me through out my studies from Kindergarten to the University because without him, I would not make it, especially my first year at the University which was a tug of war to me without any help from my parents – physically, spiritually and psychologically. Why? Because that was my first time to leave my parents and come as far as to Australia. I used to miss them so much and missed all my High School friends so I kept thinking about them every single day of my life during that year (2007).

But yeah, through my prayers, I got some families and friends who are so supportive and I became happy and started a new life. Though it was a tough journey for me, I am very happy now that I managed through the help of God to finish my course at the University and achieved my Bachelor degree and waiting for my graduation which is on its way this month (September).

Although I am so excited as I prepare for my upcoming graduation, there is a great and big challenge which I have to face and I am now facing it and that is "Looking for a graduate position". I know it is a big problem but I can put it as a challenge. I am spending sleepless nights browsing different websites looking for jobs but can not find a spot for me. Without the faith I have in God I would have given up already, but I know God has a plan for me somewhere and I will never get tired and give up and will keep on praying for it because I know one day he will answer my prayers and give me the right job I am looking for.

Therefore I need your prayers as well to keep me strong in faith and in God, and I am appealing to all the youth and fresh graduates who are looking for graduate position or any one looking for a job, to always keep God in mind while doing their search because He is a giver of everything. Yeah but all in all everything is possible with God therefore, we just need to keep our fingers crossed with His to make it work. God bless all.
